If you’re renovating your restaurant, boutique or office space and looking for a luxurious yet affordable option, engineered hardwood flooring is perfect for you. It’s a popular flooring choice amongst many business owners, offering them a wide selection of luxurious flooring options at a competitive price. Read on to learn more about engineered hardwood flooring for commercial buildings.

What is Engineered Hardwood Flooring?

While engineered hardwood flooring looks and feels like solid hardwood flooring, it is not entirely the same. Engineered hardwood flooring is manufactured using recycled wood from several types of tree subspecies and is bonded together using adhesive veneer panels. Constructed using layers of plywood topped with a veneer layer of natural hardwood, engineered hardwood flooring gives the same look and feel as solid hardwood flooring. The top veneer layer of real hardwood is stained and treated just as any solid hardwood floor.

Benefits of Engineered Hardwood Flooring

One of the major selling points of engineered hardwood flooring is its price point. Because it’s not manufactured using solid hardwood, engineered hardwood flooring is much more cost-effective. In addition to the great price of engineered hardwood flooring, other benefits include the following:

  • Resistant to Moisture and Temperature Fluctuations

Engineered hardwood flooring is manufactured in such a way that it provides excellent stability and resistance to variations in moisture and temperature. They are safe to be installed in all environments without worrying about warping or other damage to the flooring.

  • Sustainability and Durability

Since the process of manufacturing engineered wood planks involves using recycled wood, it uses far fewer trees than solid hardwood flooring. The veneers used to construct the top plank are also sliced (rather than cut with a saw) using less of the tree per plank. The slicing process also produces no sawdust, so all of the wood is used.

  • Easy (and affordable) to Install

Engineered hardwood planks can be installed in a number of different ways, including screwed or nailed down, floated over an underlay or glued down using flooring adhesive. Whichever way you choose to install engineered hardwood flooring, it’ll be a quick and affordable installation.

  • Low Maintenance

Regular vacuuming and light sweeping are enough to keep engineered wood floors clean. As for dirt accumulation, spills or leaks, a soft microfibre cloth can be used to wipe away any stains. The best feature of engineered hardwood flooring is that, unlike solid hardwood floors, they don’t need to be re-polished after a certain time to keep their sheen! They retain their shine for many years! That said, if and when you decide to revamp your engineered hardwood floors, you can simply sand down the top layer and apply fresh stain to the floors!

  • Wide Range of Options

Similar to solid hardwood floors, engineered hardwood flooring comes in a variety of grades, species, colours and stains. You can choose the finish that matches your unique style and your office’s decor.
