Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) and Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) are the fastest growing flooring products in today’s flooring market. They are not only softer and quieter than other flooring options, but they are also waterproof and easy to maintain. Learn more about Vinyl flooring benefits for commercial and residential spaces below!
Difference Between LVP and LVT
First thing’s first; what’s the difference between LVP and LVT? When it comes to functionality, Luxury Vinyl Plank and Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring are the same. They are both manufactured using synthetic materials that appear to look almost exactly the same as wood, tile or stone flooring, and they are both durable, cost-effective and low-maintenance. The most significant difference between Luxury Vinyl Plank and Luxury Vinyl Tile is the design of the flooring. While LVP is designed in planks that resemble traditional solid hardwood flooring, LVT is designed in a tile shape.
Benefits of Vinyl Flooring
Vinyl flooring has been popular in both commercial and residential spaces throughout the past couple of years as it’s long-lasting, low-cost and low-maintenance. Homeowners, shop owners and landlords have found both flooring options to be perfect for their space and can be easily installed almost anywhere. Some of the benefits of Vinyl flooring are:
Affordability
Even though vinyl tile and vinyl plank flooring are designed to appear like high-end products similar to hardwood, ceramic and stone, they are almost a fraction of the cost. No matter what style, pattern or finish you choose, you will be able to bring your flooring vision to life without going over your budget.
Durability
Vinyl flooring would be an excellent choice for lobbies, entryways and bathrooms as they are incredibly durable. They are able to withstand the demands of high foot traffic areas and daily use, including a busy commercial environment. Generally, LVP and LVT flooring is coated with a low sheen finish that maintains the desired gloss effect and hides dirt and grime that can lead to discolouration.
Easy to Maintain
Unlike other flooring options, luxury vinyl planks and tiles do not require waxing to keep their shine! All you have to do to maintain the glossy look of your vinyl floors is use a vacuum, a broom or a microfibre sweeper to clean up any dirt. The protective wear layer on vinyl planks and tiles makes it seamless to clean and maintains their gloss for years to come.
Waterproof or Water-Resistant?
Buyers tend to get confused between waterproof and water-resistant flooring. Generally, waterproof flooring is rare to find as very few options are actually 100% waterproof. Most flooring options on the market are, in fact, water–resistant and not waterproof. When using the term waterproof with any type of flooring, that would require the flooring to remain completely dry and undamaged by any amount of water residue, whether that may be a few spatters or standing puddles. The majority of flooring options are water-resistant and vary according to the amount of water they can withstand. Luxury vinyl flooring is one of the best water-resistant floorings and can be used in areas that are prone to high moisture levels. That said, it is always best practice to clean up any water residue on your flooring as soon as possible, whether it is water-resistant or not.
